2025 in Review: Financial Report

Treasurer's Report | WAITTA

2025 marked a significant milestone for WAITTA: our first full year operating on a calendar year accounting cycle, supported by an updated chart of accounts.

The shift wasn't just administrative. It's delivered something genuinely valuable — clearer visibility across every program, stronger budgeting discipline, and a more accurate picture of what it costs to run WA's premier technology and STEM programs. That foundation matters as we continue to grow.

A note on the 2025 result

The consolidated Profit and Loss for 2025 shows a net loss of A$14,570.79 across the organisation. It's important to read that number in context.

The 2025 P&L includes expenses already paid for CY2026 programs — costs committed ahead of time to support delivery in the year ahead. At the same time, a portion of income earned through 2025 programs remains outstanding and will be collected in 2026. When viewed on a true program-by-program basis, the financial position is more balanced than the headline figure suggests.

Program by program

Total income across all programs reached A$202,506.21, against a cost of sales of A$149,519.94, delivering a gross profit of A$52,986.27.

Balance sheet

As at 31 December 2025, WAITTA holds A$63,868.55 in total assets, with total shareholders' equity of A$66,883.95, supported by A$81,454.74 in retained earnings. Current liabilities sit at -A$3,015.40.

The organisation remains in a stable financial position heading into 2026.

External audit

This year, WAITTA engaged an external Financial Services Business Partner to conduct an end-of-year audit. The process confirmed improved accuracy and visibility across all program accounts — an important step in building the governance and financial rigour that a growing not-for-profit requires.

We thank our volunteer Board and financial team for their commitment to keeping WAITTA on solid ground, and look forward to building on this foundation in the year ahead.
